You can avoid traffic by exploring alternative work arrangements. Why should we all get on the road at 5 o’clock? The PTC can work with your business to design a customized, formal program at your workplace. See a list of general programs below. Contact us for more information on how we can help your company with its unique needs.
Flex Time
Employees and managers agree upon start/finish times. In most flex-time situations, there are core hours everyone must work, such as 10 AM to 3 PM, but you might start earlier or stay later to avoid the worst traffic. The employee continues to works the same number of hours but adjusts arrival and departure times.
Job Sharing
This arrangement allows two people to share one position, splitting the salary and benefits according to a pre-arranged formula. Employees can devote more time to their personal lives while continuing with their careers. Morale is higher, less time is missed because of family needs, and employers have built-in vacation coverage.
Compressed Workweeks
The hours of a “normal” workweek are squeezed into a shorter period — for example, four ten-hour days rather than five eight-hour days. Another popular workweek is nine nine-hour days with every other Friday off.
Telework
Employees work from home one or more days per week. The PTC can provide expert consulting to assist employers in establishing and evaluating a telework program.
